Best Russian Short Stories by Leonid Andreyev et al.; Chekov, Dostoyevsky, Pushkin, Gogol, etc.
Conceive the joy of a lover of nature who, leaving the art galleries, wanders out among the trees and wild flowers and birds that the pictures of the galleries have sentimentalised. It is some such joy that the man who truly loves the noblest in letters feels when tasting for the first time the simple delights of Russian literature. French and English and German authors, too, occasionally, offer works of lofty, simple naturalness; but the very keynote to the whole of Russian literature is simplicity, naturalness, veraciousness.
Beti Bachao by Shakuntala Sharma
Beticket Muzrim Se Arabpati Banne Ki Kahani by Rajiv Singh

Betty Gordon at Boarding School; Or, The Treasure of Indian Chasm by Emerson
“Me make you velly nice apple tart. Miss Betty.” The Chinese cook flourished his rolling pin with one hand and swung his apron viciously with the other as he held open the screen door and swept out some imaginary flies.
Lee Chang, cook for the bunk house in the oil fields, could do several things at one time, as he had frequently proved.
The girl, who was watching a wiry little bay horse contentedly crop grass that grew in straggling whisps about the fence posts, looked up and showed an even row of white teeth as she smiled.
“I don’t think we’re going to stay for dinner to-day,” she said half regretfully. “I know your apple tarts, Lee Chang—they are delicious.”
The fat Chinaman closed the screen door and went on with his pastry making. From time to time, as he passed from the table to the oven, he glanced out. Betty Gordon still stood watching the horse.
“That Bob no come?” inquired Lee Chang, poking his head out of the door again. Fast developing into a good American, his natural trait of curiosity gave him the advantage of acquiring information blandly and with ease.
Betty shaded her eyes with her hand. The Oklahoma sun was pitiless. Far up the road that ran straight away from the bunk house a faint cloud of dust was rising.
“He’s coming now,” said the girl confidently.
Lee Chang grunted and returned to his work, satisfied that whatever Betty was waiting for would soon be at hand.
Betty Leicester’s Christmas by Sarah Orne Jewett
There was once a story-book girl named Betty Leicester, who lived in a small square book bound in scarlet and white. I, who know her better than any one else does, and who know my way about Tideshead, the story-book town, as well as she did, and who have not only made many a visit to her Aunt Barbara and Aunt Mary in their charming old country-house, but have even seen the house in London where she spent the winter: I, who confess to loving Betty a good deal, wish to write a little more about her in this Christmas story.
Betty’s Virginia Christmas by Molly Elliott Seawell
It was as cold as Christmas, and Christmas Eve it was. A thin crust of snow lay over the level landscape of lower Virginia, and the declining sun cast a lovely rose-red light upon the silver world. Afar off lay the river that led to the great bay, both river and bay frozen hard and fast as steel. The crystal air was sharp and still, and in the opaline sky a little crescent moon smiled at the sparkling stars.
Beyond Death and Other Stories by Sunil R.P. Sethi
I felt rage which was unusual in my world and I wanted to come to teach lesson to perpetrators of crime not only against me but also my mother who was not taken care of and who died as beggar. When I told my community leader he was annoyed and said that I may never come back. But I was insistent and so I got transported here when in sleep. I have no idea how to go back or whether I will ever go back to meet my family. Now, I realise my mistake in taking revenge. I can’t live here as I remember everything and I can’t go there as I am clueless in that. He stood to move out of room. Mukesh finally asked, “But your name sounded Hindu, Anand.” Smilingly was answer given “we have no names as we don’t need them either. That was only for you so that we can communicate.” Off he went leaving behind a visibly shaken and new Avatar of Mukesh. He was never heard of again.

Beyond Seven Seas and Thirteen Rivers by Saibal Gupta
Beyond Seven Seas and Thirteen Rivers is a serio-fiction based on a hundred years old true story and the fictional story of a Naxalite rebel of the seventies of last century. The true story is about a man who lived in the nineteenth century and rebelled against the restrictive life of the society at that time and used to dream about distant foreign lands and adventures, stimulated by stories from Ramayana and Mahabharata. He left home as a teenager and through many adventures in the lands unknown became a renowned soldier and officer in the Brazilian Republican Army. His sketchy biography was published in a Bengali book at the turn of the century, 1899-1900, but nothing is known about him afterwards except that he died in Brazil in 1905. Born in the same year as Rabindra Nath Thakur and two years before Swami Vivekananda he remained an icon and an enigma, the only heroic-romantic character at the dawn of Indian renaissance. The fictional Naxalite rebel of the seventies also had to leave the country after many adventurous escapes, true events in the life of many young men, and reached Brazil and came to know about his predecessor a hundred years back and started searching for him. That changed his life bringing forth many perennial issues of man and society.
Beyond the Black River by Robert E. Howard
The stillness of the forest trail was so primeval that the tread of a soft-booted foot was a startling disturbance. At least it seemed so to the ears of the wayfarer, though he was moving along the path with the caution that must be practised by any man who ventures beyond Thunder River. He was a young man of medium height, with an open countenance and a mop of tousled tawny hair unconfined by cap or helmet. His garb was common enough for that country—a coarse tunic, belted at the waist, short leather breeches beneath, and soft buckskin boots that came short of the knee. A knife-hilt jutted from one boot-top. The broad leather belt supported a short, heavy sword and a buckskin pouch. There was no perturbation in the wide eyes that scanned the green walls which fringed the trail. Though not tall, he was well built, and the arms that the short wide sleeves of the tunic left bare were thick with corded muscle.
Beyond the Black Waters by A. L. O. E.
The title of this work would probably convey no definite idea to the minds of most Europeans; it might be considered as merely a figurative expression. It is otherwise with the native of Hindostan. The Black Waters are to him those that cut off from happiness and home the criminals of that vast region to which he belongs. Beyond the Black Waters lie the Andaman Islands, where, at the present time, about thirteen thousand convicts of both sexes—thieves, murderers, and murderesses—endure the punishment of exile, the due reward of their crimes.

Beyond the Horizon by Eugene O’Neill
A section of country highway. The road runs diagonally from the left, forward, to the right, rear, and can be seen in the distance winding toward the horizon like a pale ribbon between the low, rolling hills with their freshly plowed fields clearly divided from each other, checkerboard fashion, by the lines of stone walls and rough snake fences.
Bhagat Singh Jail Diary by Yadvinder Singh Sandhu
Bhagat Singh Jail Diary by Yadvinder Singh Sandhu
Great son of India, Shaheed Bhagat Singh was executed by the Britishers on 23rd March, 1931. He dedicated his life to free motherland from the cruel clutches of the British.
His Jail Diary was handed over, along with other belongings to his father, Sardar Kishan Singh after his execution. After Sardar Kishan Singh’s death, the notebook, along with other papers of Bhagat Singh, was passed on to his another son, Shri Kulbir Singh. After his death, it has passed to his son, Shri Babar Singh. It was the dream of Shri Babar Singh that the Indian masses get to know through this historical diary what were the actual thoughts of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Also general people can also see the original writings of Bhagat Singh because he is the hero of every caste, religion, poor, rich, farmers, labourers and everyone who loves Bharat.
Bhagat Singh’s deep thinking and vision, love for mankind can be seen by his these words, “Our political parties consist of men who have but one idea, i.e. to fight against the alien rulers.
That idea is quite laudable, but cannot be termed a revolutionary idea. We must make it clear that revolution
does not merely mean an upheaval
or a sanguinary strife. Revolution necessarily implies the programme of systematic reconstruction of society on new and better adapted basis, after complete destruction of the existing state of affairs (i.e. regime).”
Publication of this Jail Diary is a befitting tribute to the hero of India’s freedom struggle since it will infuse feeling of nationalism, patriotism and dedication among the readers.
Bhagat Singh Jail Note Book by Harish Jain

Bhagat Singh Ki Phansi Ka Sach by Kuldip Nayar
